Ok, so I’m a Gadget Freak too!

Aside from the Cameras which are a hobby of mine, I’ve got plenty of other Gadgets too!
Here’s a list, which I’ll update as and when I can remember. I suppose I really should find you some pictures of this lot too!

Also lurking under my desk is a 2012 vintage Apple Mac Mini (i5, 16Gb RAM, with another Samsung 512gb Evo pro SSD) which is attached to a pair of Samsung C24F390 curved monitors.  By day these screens are used on my Work Laptop, and by night they connect to the Mac Mini.

macmini2012This is all Networked together, and attached to my Gigabit Ethernet Wired LAN and multiple 802.11A/B/G Wireless Networks driven by a pair of Meraki MS-220-8P PoE Gigabit LAN Switches, a Meraki MX-64 Security Gateway, and domestic wireless is driven by a collection of Cisco Meraki Cloud Managed Wireless Access Points.  Currently a a Meraki MR-12 , Meraki MR-18, and a Meraki MR-32..  Broadband is provided by Sky Fibre Pro (~ 60Mb down and 16Mb up) from a Sky Hub 2.0

The astute amongst you may have noticed that I have a fair bit of Cisco Meraki equipment.  That’s because I’m a Certified Meraki Networking Associate (CMNA).

Attached to the Network are a QNAP TVS-1282 NAS appliance with a UX-500P storage expansion.  The NAS and Storage Cabinet are fully populated with a mixture of 8x Western Digital “Red” 10Tb HDD’s in the TVS-1282, and 5x Western Digital “Red” 6.0Tb HDD’s in the UX-500P.  The NAS also has six SSD’s (I favour Samsung Evo 860‘s)

Home Security is taken care of by a Netgear Arlo II Home Security System, and Home Office supported by a Yealink T26P SIP Phone, a Polycom VVX410 SIP Phone, a Polycom Cordless Headset,  and various other devices as outlined below.

Printing is provided by two Wireless Network printers, an HP Officejet 7500A A3 All-in-one Scanner, Printer, & Fax and an HP LaserJet Pro MFP277DW in my home office.

For Gaming I mainly use my PC, but also have an Xbox One Elite and a Sony PlayStation PS4.

We’ve already mentioned the Camera – currently a Canon EOS-400D Digital SLR plus a collection of various lenses and accessories! And a dinky little Kodak Easyshare Sport which I bought specifically for underwater use.  I also have a very nice Olympus Compact Camera which was a Christmas present from my amazing Girlfriend, which is the stick-it-in-the-pocket variety when going out for days!

In the car I have a Nextbase 412GW Dashboard Camera or “Dashcam” which I will post about more very soon.

My Home Entertainment Rig:

Consists of a Pioneer VSX-510K Amplifier, , a Samsung 32″ UE32B7020 LED TV (Note I can’t find a link to the 32″ version on Samsung’s Website so the above is for the 40″ Version),  Sky HD (of  course!).  On various TV’s in the house there are an Fire TV Stick and an Amazon Fire TV classic, A Roku 2, and an Apple TV 4, all of which I use to drive Streaming services such as Amazon Prime Instant Video, Netflix, and of course my own Media library using the Plex Media Server.

A Panasonic DMP-BDT110 3D Blu-Ray Player and an up scaling Panasonic EZ27EB-K Multi HDD DVD Recorder/Player

In recent months my dabbling with Home automation has exploded, and now have a collection of Amazon Echo, Echo 2nd Gen, Echo Spot, Echo Show.  I’ve been playing with ever increasing levels of Home Automation, driven largely by an Amazon Echo, which is driving a Phillips Hue Hub and various lights, both of which are working with my Arlo Home Security mentioned above, my Dyson Pure Cool Link fan,  and using Stringify to automate events etc.

Other Miscellaneous Gadgets include:

Plustek OpticFilm 7600i SE Film/Negative Scanner, a Canon Selphy 910 Photo printer, An Apple iPad Pro 12.9″ (512Gb 4g/Wifi), and an Amazon Kindle Oasis
